Indycar driver and Toowoomba boy Will Power has been hospitalised after an accident during a practice session for the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma at Infineon Raceway. Indycar.com is reporting that Will Power has suffered compression fractures of his L2 and L4 vertebrae.

Power collided with a spun out car that was being driven by Nelson Philippe. Philippe’s car spun just over the crest of a hill, and from footage, it appears that Power didn’t have enough sight distance to avoid colliding with Philippe’s car.

Hopefully Power can make a speedy recovery.
